Desulfurization Towers

Flue-gas and process-gas SO₂ removal columns using wet limestone, dry/semi-dry and ammonia processes — meeting ultra-low emission standards while turning by-products (gypsum, ammonium sulphate) into usable resources.

Working Principle

SO₂ is removed by chemical absorption or catalytic reaction, with the absorbent chemistry chosen to match emission limits, water balance and by-product value.

  1. Wet process: counter-current contact with limestone slurry forms calcium sulphite, oxidised to gypsum for resource use.
  2. Dry / semi-dry process: solid absorbent reacts with SO₂ — no wastewater treatment required.
  3. Ammonia process: absorption yields ammonium sulphate, a fertiliser feedstock.

Application Scenarios

  • Power: coal-fired plant flue-gas desulfurization to ultra-low emission limits.
  • Iron & steel: sinter machine and coke-oven flue-gas treatment.
  • Chemical & petrochemical: sulphuric-acid tail gas and refinery flue-gas purification.
  • Other high-sulphur duties: glass kilns, ceramics, waste incineration.
